“Let’s jump up and down dancing in Ethno-Disco style!”- the initiator of “Land of Dreams Festival” Oleh Skrypka sings.

In the evening, on the 13th of January, on Melanka’s folk holiday you are invited to participate in the popular “Vechornytsi Ethno Disco" or “Ethno Disco Evening Party”.

Joining old and modern national traditions, the action combines old dances, songs, and Ukrainian poetry with the ultra modern wild dance rhythms and funny surprises.

The highlight of the holiday is the Old Folk Dances School where everyone gets the opportunity to follow basic movements of the popular flaming dances “Hrechanyky”, “Oyra”, and “Hopak”.

Obligatory dress code is a Ukrainian national costume or at least its elements on you favourite dress.

  • The New York Times: Lviv, Ukraine: Local Dumplings and International Sensibility

It was the airport in Lviv, of all things, that first charmed me. Regional airports across the former Soviet Union tend to be a dreary lot, with all the appeal of a 24-hour bus station. But the one in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, had wood paneling and ornate columns and the feel of a grand old railway station in a 1950s film.
