The original idea was initiated by Oleh Novokhatsky, and the actual theatre studio was founded by the National Society of Theatre Employees of Ukraine in 1990. 

The theatre’s feature attraction is the presence on stage of both actors and puppets. The theatre strives to popularize national folk tales and puppetry in order to develop aesthetic and cultural awareness among children.

This theatre has taken part in many international festivals on puppetry. The repertoire includes stage productions for pre-schoolers, schoolchildren, and adults.
