The sweetest festival

There is chocolate from immemorial times in Lviv. And from ancient times chocolate lovers are coming to the city to taste plyatsok (Lviv name for cakes), eat cake or drink hot chocolate. With the revival of Ukraine begins a revival of closed coffee shops, cafes with their self-made cakes and even chocolate manufactores. Each of them is trying to create a sweet masterpiece, which will gather a long queue of pilgrims.

This year on "Chocolate holiday" we will get an opportunity to see best creations of Lviv confectioners. And not to only see but also to eat it, to present your mom or to feed your beloved.

To the question: "What else is on holidays?" organizers enigmatic smiles and refuses to lift the veil of mystery. However, the source, who wished to remain not named, announcing the visit to Lviv worldwide known chocolate maestro. The same source tells us about chocolate sculptures that will be carved during the holiday, unfortunately, without specifying whether they can then be eaten.

And yet, we should expect, chocolate fountains, evening concerts, master classes on cooking different delicacy and eating huge cake. Of course, made of chocolate!

    • The New York Times: Lviv, Ukraine: Local Dumplings and International Sensibility

It was the airport in Lviv, of all things, that first charmed me. Regional airports across the former Soviet Union tend to be a dreary lot, with all the appeal of a 24-hour bus station. But the one in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, had wood paneling and ornate columns and the feel of a grand old railway station in a 1950s film.
