Lviv is getting ready for UEFA EURO 2012™. The city is implementing many infrastructural projects, which bring important quality and alter the face of the city.

Experts expect that UEFA EURO 2012™ will enable the city to develop economically and leap forward by ten years, and then continue to grow at a stable pace in the after-years of the Championship.

EURO 2012 stadium in Lviv

We are building a new STADIUM for 30 thousand people. The first international football game will take place in the new stadium in 2011.

Lviv stadium’s capacity is 33 thousand spectators, out of which approximately 300 seats will be for honourable visitors in VIP-area on the third level, and about 150 seats will be located in the area skyboxes on the fourth level.

In general Lviv stadium will have three floors, the first of which is intended for underground parking, two others are intended for two-tier stands, VIP-area, and the rest of auxiliary premises.

PROGRESS ON STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

- After restoration of construction work, the beams of 2 tiers were completed (axis N10 and N11).
- The works on installing frames for the next 2 tier beams have been commenced at the site.
- The construction of the first level of the Northern part of the stadium is to be completed before end of February.

Lviv new airport project

We are renovating the old AIRPORT terminal and building a brand new one. It is expected that construction work will be completed by the end of 2011. Airport capacity will increase tenfold, allowing a passenger flow of up to 2,000 people per hour.

We will renovate and build over 40 km. of ROADS within the city itself.

We are building 16 new HOTELS in the city and its vicinity.

We are reconstructing four stadiums, which will be used as TRAINING FIELDS for teams taking part in UEFA EURO 2012™. One of them will be the main sports complex for the National Olympic team, which will use the premises to prepare for the 2012 Olympic Games.

  • The New York Times: Lviv, Ukraine: Local Dumplings and International Sensibility

It was the airport in Lviv, of all things, that first charmed me. Regional airports across the former Soviet Union tend to be a dreary lot, with all the appeal of a 24-hour bus station. But the one in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, had wood paneling and ornate columns and the feel of a grand old railway station in a 1950s film.
