One and a half hour car drive and you are in the Ukrainian Carpathians, which are interesting to travelers regardless of the season. Here you find minimum of civilization and maximum of enjoyment and recreation for both the body and the soul. Carpathians are not just primeval mountains, they also present an original culture of mountain dwellers. Local traditions, folk – lore, festivities, clothing have not changed for centuries, and the Carpathian hospitality can be confirmed by anyone who has ever visited this place.
In the Summer, you can enjoy walking, horseriding or bicycle trips through the mountains, floating excursions down the rivers, or flying expeditions on apparatuses of various constructions.
In the Winter, skiing resorts such as Slavs’ke, Tysovets’, Plai and others offer a full range of services for the winter sports fans. The Ukrainian government has already declared that it will be preparing Lviv as a candidate for hosting Winter Olympic Games in 2022, so the sports infrastructure will only improve in the near future.

But the one in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, had wood paneling and ornate columns and the feel of a grand old railway station in a 1950s film.
