“Life Dialogues” – Mykola Andrushchenko Exhibition Opens in Lviv

About the Artist
Mykola Andrushchenko was born on December 19th, 1935 in the town of Rudnyk Zhovtenovy, Dnipropetrovsk region. He studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, faculty of monumental painting. His mentors were renowned artists Carlo Zvirinsky, Danylo Dovboshynky, and Roman Selsky.
Mykola Andrushchenko began his career in 1956 as a secondary school teacher in Pyatykhatky. Since 1991 he worked as an associate professor of the department of monumental painting at LNAA, where he revived the teaching of the ancient encaustic technique. Currently, he holds the titles of People’s Artist of Ukraine, Distinguished Artist of Ukraine, and professor.
The artist has been actively participating in exhibitions since 1965. His works have been repeatedly displayed both in Ukraine and abroad. He works in the fields of graphics, easel, and monumental painting. The works are preserved in private and state collections. The artist lives and works in Lviv.
What will be at the Exhibition?
The concept of the exhibition is quite interesting, as holding it has become a good tradition for the artist. Every year on his birthday, December 19, Mykola Andrushchenko paints a self-portrait displaying the evolution of his styles over the years.
Specifically, at the expo each visitor will have the opportunity to see works executed in various styles and on various subjects. Mykola Andrushchenko works equally skillfully in genres of oil painting, glass painting, genre painting, still life, and landscape.
His works display an expressive decorative style, which manifests primarily in the emotional expression of each painting. The artist seeks to represent images monumentally and universally, to profoundly convey his idea through the dynamic interplay of lines and expressive presentation of colors. He also masterfully employs traditional decorative elements.
