Lviv will host a screening of the film “Memory is our homeland”
This event will interest those who are interested in history, World War II, as well as just love films (what’s more, watched so many that they want to see something radically new!). Do not miss the screening of the film “Memory is our homeland”, which will take place on February 15 in Lviv.
Briefly about the film screening
Don’t worry, we won’t spoil the film for you. On the contrary, we will only slightly lift the veil of mystery to spark your interest in attending the film screening.
So, “Memory is our homeland” is a travel film through the forgotten pages of the history of Polish refugees in Africa during World War II. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
The idea for the movie didn’t just appear out of nowhere. The thing is that Jonathan Durand, the director of the film, traces the footsteps of his grandmother, which pass through her parental home, Siberia, Iran, India, and eventually East Africa. At the same time, he reflects on the topics of memory, identity, and homeland.
After the screening, a discussion is planned with the participation of director Jonathan Durand and research associate of the “Territory of Terror” museum Liana Bliharska. There will be many questions that they will try to answer: what is identity and how does it affect our lives? How do we, as representatives of new generations, experience the traumatic experiences of past eras? Is it possible to recreate the common history of a nation by assembling personal stories and family legends of individuals into a single picture?
