Thematic exhibition about Crimea starts in Lviv

We invite all interested Lviv residents to visit the thematic exhibition entitled “Crimea: in the Dialogue of Centuries.” The official opening of the exposition will take place on February 10, 2024. Looking ahead, we will say that this exhibition about Crimea is a real find for supporters of the Crimean Tatar history!

Exhibition about Crimea: what to see?

The exhibition “Crimea: in the Dialogue of Centuries” is timed to the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the Russian occupation of Crimea. It deserves attention only because of how widely it covers the subject of research on this peninsula. The amount of work on this exposition is simply amazing, since six artists who actively explore and depict the peculiarities of the life of the indigenous people of Crimea joined its creation. Already interested, aren’t they? In this case, catch a short list of locations that you can find at the exhibition:

  • Plein-air sketches from the series “Crimean Sonnets” by Jan Zionglinsky;
  • Triptych “Tomb of the Khans in Bakhchisarai” by Wlodzimierz Nalench;
  • Works by the spouses Roman and Margit Selsky, written in Crimea;
  • modern works of painting and ceramics made within the framework of the cultural and artistic project “ZINCIR/CHAIN ‒ LINKS OF MEMORY”;
  • Genre works by the artist Dmitry Dotsenko, reproduce episodes of the peaceful life of the Crimean Tatars;
  • Replicas of Crimean Tatar ceramic dishes of the 18th ‒ 20th centuries, authored by the Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Rustem Skybin;
  • Reproduction of the wedding ceremony of the Tatars with the help of video.

Briefly about schedule

As you can see, this exhibition about Crimea is an extremely valuable source of information about the peculiarities of life and culture of the Crimean Tatars. And this is not surprising, since the exhibition was created by the Lviv National Art Gallery named after B.G. Voznitsky, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, and the Public Organization “Crimean Institute for Strategic Studies.”

After the official opening of the exhibition, Rustem Skybin’s excursion will take place at 15:00, and at 16:00 – the presentation of several videos from the series “12 myths about Crimea” of the project “ZINCIR/CHAIN ‒ LINKS OF MEMORY” and a meeting with their authors.
