An evening of music by Henry Purcell in Lviv
One cannot talk about art events in Lviv and not mention classical music. This Saturday you can enjoy the music of Henry Purcell, which will be performed by actress and singer Natalia Polovynka and pianist Serhiy Kudrynetskyi. For those who do not know about the figure of this composer, we specially prepared a short reference:
Henry Purcell (1659-1695) is considered the brightest representative of the early English Baroque. His multi-genre works include operas (“Dido and Aeneas”, “Queen of Fairies”, “Diocletian”), choral anthems (“You, God, we Praise”, “My Heart is Inditing”), instrumental works (“Fantasies on In Nomine” , “Violin Sonatas”), as well as wonderful solos such as “When I am laid in earth” and “Music for a while”.

Bohdan Shumylovych’s lecture “Creepy Bodies”
Well, how do you like the name? Catchy, isn’t it? In this lecture, you can learn more about the use of so-called “creepy bodies” in art. Bohdan Shumylovych will talk about the works of Peter Witkin, Hans Bellmer, and Igor Podolchak.
To better feel the atmosphere of the conversation, read a brief description of the event from the organizers:
“Death, corpses, dwarfs and intersexuals of the photographer Peter Witkin, creepy dolls of Hans Bellmer and dark subjects of the Ukrainian artist – Ihor Podolchak. And of course, where can we go without cyborg women?”

“Pie and Whip” at the Lviv Philharmonic
This option will appeal to those who adore authentic Ukrainian music with a hint of modernity. The musical and poetic project of popularizing the language of the Krai called “Cake and Whip” is organizing a concert at the Lviv Philharmonic, where everyone will be able to enjoy Ukrainian lyrics complete with musical beats.
What awaits you:
- Presentation of the album “Green” based on the works of Bohdan Ihor Antonych;
- Presentation of sung poetry from the upcoming album “Gagged” (I) on the poems of poets who were tortured during the Soviet occupation of our Krai.
In addition to the fact that you will be able to hear the new project updates for the first time, you will also be able to join the collection from the Musicians Defend Ukraine fund (which means, do a good deed and get a plus in karma)!

“Wedding” performance in Lviv
What do you know about Ukrainian weddings? Do you know what rituals accompany this action? If these questions have been bothering your soul for a long time and you want to immerse yourself in this special atmosphere, then be sure to buy tickets to the performance “Wedding” from the “Garden of Divine Songs” project!
The production is based on wedding ritual songs from all over Ukraine (as many as 28 compositions are used!). This is how theater critic Serhii Vasiliev commented on the play “The Wedding”:
“This action is not a reproduction of a wedding ceremony, it is not a ritual theater. The director, actresses and artists talk to modern viewers in a modern language on topics that are relevant at all times for all people of all nations – about love, human relationships, man and woman, race and family, children and parents.”
